Simone was recently interviewed by The Nerds of Color about her latest project ‘The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland’! She looked as gorgeous as ever, and the interview is definitely worth a watch. You can check it out at the bottom of this post!
The nerds of colour | Simone Ashley brings the character of Alice to life in The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland. The new animated film is now streaming on Hulu and Prime Video!
St Nick (voiced by Gerard Butler) receives a delayed letter on Christmas Eve from the Princess of Hearts. He and his dedicated team of reindeer set off to Wonderland where they’re greeted by the mean and miserable Queen of Hearts (voiced by Emilia Clarke) who hates all things Christmas… especially presents! Can St Nick, aided by Alice (voiced by Simone Ashley), the Mad Hatter and March Hare, show the Queen the true meaning of Christmas and save the day before it’s too late?
“The cadences that you see in the writing of Alice in Wonderland and The Night Before Christmas are very similar in the way that you read them and the sounds,” the actress explained. “I think they’re both such classics and The Night Before Christmas could kind of be anywhere, but to put it in Wonderland, it just really stretches the imagination of what all those characters go through the night before Christmas.”
We discussed her approach to voicing Alice, her favorite part of how Wonderland is portrayed, which other fairytale she would choose to combine with Christmas, her fans, and much more.
